Communication Skill brief

It is about being able to speak to different stakeholders.

 

When having an oral communication, without thinking we adapt the way we speak according to who that person is.

 

In same way if we needed to communicate with someone through email or memo, we should always think about the audience when drafting the email or memo.

 

We should think about the tone, the language, the level of details etc.

 

Communication skills requires you to,

  • Inform to intended audience.
  • In clear and persuasive manner.
  • Through the appropriate medium.
  • While being sensitive to their needs.

You will be expected produce the answer in a variety of format such as reports, memos, emails & PPT.

 

To demonstrate communication skills, ask yourself three questions

  1. What is the required medium of delivery?
  2. What is my audience’s level of understanding and how much information do they need?
  3. Have I made my points in a logical and progressive order?

 

Analyse

Decide who you are?

Format they asked.

Decide who is your target audience?

Support argument with facts / reasons because to convince someone we have to communicate strong reasons also.

Inform them / give basic details also.

Use headings and present everything in logical order.
