ACCA have started taking exams computer based for all the subjects and there is no other option available to students.
But stuents are having option in giving this computer based exams, either ACCA students can give centre based exam or remotely invigilated exam.
Right now I am assuming that you already know what are these modes. I am here in this blog sharing just plus points and minus points of remote exams only.
Plus points
- No travelling
Remote exam can be given anywhere and from student’s home also, the biggest advantage is that student don’t need to travel to exam centre (Sometimes travel to different city)
- No difference in keyborad
Typing speed is very important in ACCA exams otherwise paper can not be completed on time. With remote exam student gives the exam in the laptop which they have used while solving the sums during practice, and so it gives them better typing speed during the exam.
- Multiple options for exam time
Remote exams have more timing options then centre based exams.
- More comfort at known place
Most of the student gets nervous when they go to unknown place, but in the remote exam students gives the exam at their home itself so somehow it gives them a comfort level.
Minus Points
- Fulfilling Technical requirement
Some students may not have latest laptop or PC which fulfills the technical requirement for remote invigilation. ACCA do have strict requirement for webcam related and system related.
- Exam room
Remote exam room should be silent and should not have glass or window in the room, if any wall is having glass or window then there has to be the facility of curtain.
If the house is having noicy road near then also remote exam is not possible.
- Technical issue during the exam
Few of the students face the technical issue during the exam, common reason can be Internet related issue or system related issue.
It’s impossible to know the exact reason for technical issues so this is the risk which remains with all the remote exam students.
If in the past you have given remote exam and if it went smoothly then you don’t need to worry, you should use the same device.
If you can fulfill technical requirement, arrange proper silent exam place and have fast reliable internet then we would suggest to go for remote exams only.
If anything is missing, we would suggest to go for centre based exams.
